Helene Shore and Julie Kimmel formed 350 Fairfax in March 2017 to harness people power in Fairfax County around local and state climate issues. We held an initial kickoff meeting in April 2017 at a local wine bar and were overwhelmed by the response—50-plus people showed up ready for action. By June we were sending groups to meet with state legislators about stopping the Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Pipelines, protesting big banks’ funding of the Keystone XL Pipeline, and planning efforts to promote solar panel installation in Fairfax County Public Schools and to ban the single-use plastic bag in Virginia. We’ve helped organize numerous protests and informational events with our climate action allies across Northern Virginia.

In 2019 we’re focusing on two big campaigns: Fossil Free Fairfax and the Plastic Free Challenge. To find out more, check out our website, sign up for our email list, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and come to our general meetings, held the first Thursday of every month.
