Welcome to the first day of the Plastic Free Challenge! This Challenge is already bigger and better than last year’s. We have more sponsors, more public participation, bigger commitments, and a more engaged set of participants.

If you haven’t already, you can sign up for this year’s Plastic Free Challenge at 350fairfax.org/plastic-free-challenge. As a participant, you’ll receive weekly emails and support throughout October to help you form new habits around plastic use. Find even more tips and advice under the hashtag #PlasticFreeDMV on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. And check out this space for Plastic Free updates on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We kicked off the Challenge on Saturday, September 28, at the Plastic Free Forum in Great Falls. The audience who turned out asked thought-provoking questions that prompted an informative and inspiring discussion about how to drastically reduce single-use plastic. Our expert panelists included Rini Saha, founder and president of GreenThinkerDC; Dan Simons, owner of Farmers Restaurant Group and founder of Our Last Straw; and our own Helene Shore, co-chair of 350 Fairfax.
